Katie Kidd, Owner, Cheer Director , Cheer and Tumble Coach, Choreographer, USASF Certified Level 5

When you think of cheerleading in SW VA, Katie Kidd definitely is a well known name for her many years of coaching in this area!    In addition to cheering throughout middle & high school, and participating in allstar cheerleading , Katie has had  over 10 years of dance, gymnastics and tumble training.  Katie has over 15 years of coaching experience and  has coached tumbling and cheer technique to kids from many area schools, and has choreographed routines for area middle, high school & allstar teams.  She organized and taught all the after school cheer programs for Botetourt County elementary schools. She was Cheerleading and Tumbling Director for BGA Jags for 5 years where she was certified with AACCA.  She has been with Synergy Cheer since the beginning (10 years ago) where she was Cheer Director and choreographer.  Teams she has coached have won many regional and National titles, and her athletes have gone on to cheer for high school & college teams as well as coach.  Katie is a graduate of VWCC and has stepped up her role by becoming an owner in 2012 of FAME Roanoke where she oversees and trains our amazing and ever growing staff and has stepped into a managerial role as well.  She still has her hand in coaching the teams as she is constantly lending an additional hand and perspective to all of our awesome teams,  and coaches tumbling and cheer classes.   She is USASF safety Certified in all levels (levels 1-6 stunting, levels 1-5 tumbling &  levels 1-6 tosses).  Katie has many years of knowledge and experience , something that cannot be substituted as it teaches us what works and what doesn’t so that we can continue to improve and be the best allstar experience for our athletes.  We are extremely fortunate to have her talent and expertise at FAME Roanoke!

Don Ayton, Cheer and Tumble Coach, Choreographer, USASF Certified Level 5 & VHSL Certified

Don is a  2011 graduate of Hidden Valley High School has attended  Virginia Western Community College.  Don has done allstar cheerleading since the age of 15 with Synergy and then Fame Allstars with an exceptional talent  and passion for cheer and tumbling.  He cheered for Northside High School Competition team as well as Varsity Football Sideline and the Competition team for Hidden Valley High School, which placed 3rd in the State in 2010. Don made Cheer Extreme Senior Medium Coed Level 5 World’s Team in 2011 and 2012  where he competed at Worlds in Orlando, FL.  Don cheered on the Virginia Tech Coed Competition Cheer Team in 2014-15.  He coached Hidden Valley HIgh School Competition Team in 2014 and  Christiansburg competition  team in 2012. He also coached the Roanoke College Cheer and Dance Teams in 2015 and has been asked to judge at CCA and other area competitions and worked with ECA as part of their Summer Coaching staff. With ECA he helped with ECA Nationals in Hershey, PA and  conducted many Allstar and High School cheer camps  accross the East Coast.   Don is amazing with music production and choreography and does music and helps with choreography for Fame Roanoke teams and individual routines as well as many area Middle and High School Competition Teams.   He will Coach several FAME allstar teams as well as  help out with cheer clinics, camps, choreography & tumbling classes.  Don has World Class experience and we are foruntate to have him leading our teams.  Don is USASF certified to Level 5 and VHSL Certified.

Ashley Caldwell, Cheer and Tumble Coach, USASF Certified Level 4

Ashley has been a cheerleader since the age of five. She cheered on her high school and college sideline and competitive teams, as well as at the all-star level. Ashley has coached all-star cheerleading for going on 5 years. She is currently works as an Occupational Therapist and is truly passionate about helping people grow and succeed on the mat as well as in life!

Kristin Kidd, Cheer andTumble Coach, USASF Certified Level 5

Kristin, Katie’s older sister, also participated in recreational cheerleading and sports, and cheered throughout her school years.  She loves working with kids and also worked as a lifeguard each summer.  In 2004, she received the American Red Cross Good Samaritan Award for heroism for saving a 5 year old boy from drowning, the highest award given to individuals by the Red Cross.  Kristin went on to cheer at Radford University, where she graduated with a Bachelors degree in Education and teaches Elementary School art. She has coached tumbling and gymnastics for many years and been a cheer coach for BGA Jags, Staunton River High School,  Synergy Allstars and currently for Fame Allstars Roanoke.   She was a UCA All-American Cheerleader, McDonald’s All-American cheerleader and a Christian Cup Invitational All-American Cheerleader. She also cheered for William Byrd and was on the SW Virgina Open Allstar cheerleading Team.  She was 1st runner up in the Miss Roanoke Valley Pageant in 2005 where her talent was of course, cheerleading and tumbling!  Kristin has also choreographed area high school’s competition routines.  She is USASF safety Certified in all levels (levels 1-6 stunting, levels 1-5 tumbling &  levels 1-6 tosses). 

Kim Horanzo,  Cheer & Tumble Coach, USASF Certification Pending
Kim started her cheer career very young at North Roanoke Rec Club and went on to cheer throughout her time at Northside Middle School as well as all her years at Northside High School for Varsity Sideline and Competition Teams.  Her Junior year she was named Second Team All District and her Senior year First Team All District.  Upon graduation, Kim tried out and made the Cheerleading team at Ferrum College where she cheered until her graduation in 2010.  During her Freshman year, the Ferrum team took 1st Place in the American Open in Orlando, FL and her Sophomore year,  placed 3rd at Battle at the Capitol where with both competitions being non-conference, they had competed against teams from many states as well as other countries. From 2007-2009, Ferrum placed 3rd in the USA South Conference. During her years at Ferrum College, the team held clinics and camps for area high schools to teach tumbling, stunts and choreograph routines.  After graduation, she was offered a coaching job at Northside Middle School where she has coached for several seasons.  Coach Kim will be teaching tumbling and stunt classes and assisting with Diamonds and Fierce.
